I am not queer, but I feel safest in queer spaces. It's always been that way, just welcomed in with open arms and allowed to exist. I often wonder if this is because the queer spaces I've been welcomed into are full of people who were bullied and traumatized the way I was (for different reasons), and they didn't want to let it happen to someone else.
